Formal dyslexia assessment
I am a qualified dyslexia assessor who holds professional insurance and is DBS checked. I hold the correct certifications and professional memberships to allow my assessments to lead to a life long dyslexia diagnosis which will be accepted as evidence for disabled students allowance (DSA). The formal assessment report is currently accepted as evidence of the need for reasonable adjustments at work and support at school, college or university. I can provide assessments for children aged 8-16.

Assessment report
The formal assessment report analyses both the information gathered during the in person assessment and the information received from school and home. It is roughly 25-30 pages long and the current authorised SASC report format is always followed. It will clearly state if dyslexia has been diagnosed or not and will provide recommendations for further support (even if dyslexia is not diagnosed). Referral letters will be provided where the assessor thinks another professional should investigate the child's needs. This assessment can only diagnose dyslexia.
Assessment cost
A full formal assessment and report begins at £400 if the assessment takes place in the assessor's home. An extra charge is made for assessments in the students school or home. Contact directly for further pricing information.
Assessment process
If you are considering a formal assessment for your child the first step would be a free 20 minute phone call to discuss their needs and the benefits an assessment brings. If you do decide to proceed, background information is gathered through a series of questionnaires. A 2-3 hour in person assessment is then held before all the information is collated into a formal assessment report. Email support is available throughout. All assessments used are officially accredited by SASC (the SpLD Assessment Standards Committee).
